Definition of ISO: ISO is the abbreviation of ‘International Organization for Standardization’, that is, it is a quality management system standard created by the international standardization organization. ISO 9001 Certificate, on the other hand, determines an assurance that the products or services of the relevant organization are put forward as a result of a management approach that is directed and managed in accordance with an internationally accepted management system, and therefore the continuity of the product and service quality of the organization can be ensured.

ISO 9001: It is a standard that defines an effective quality management system. When the organization meets the requirements of this standard, it can obtain the ISO 9001 certificate. The document shows that the products and services of the organization are produced in accordance with an internationally accepted standard. The standard has been developed by the International Organization of Standardization (IOS), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, to which more than 90 countries are members. The authority to authorize certification companies is given to the accreditation boards of the member countries. The accreditation authority in Turkey has been given to TÜRKAK.

Different standards developed for similar technologies in different countries or regions are sometimes used as “technical barriers to trade”. The most important function of ISO today is to eliminate such technical barriers to trade by preparing internationally accepted standards such as ISO 9000 quality management standards and other product standards.
